Spring is a great time to be in St. Louis. Flowers start to bloom, all the outdoor activities start up again and the Cardinals are back in action! Spring is also a sign that the busy travel season is right around the corner and I’m sure everyone is busy getting ready to showcase everything St. Louis has to offer.
While we are so excited for the traditional kick-off to the travel and tourism season in St. Louis, the March meeting offered information on what some of our member attractions do to extend the typical season. Katy Enrique and Kelly Tecklenburg from Six Flags provided great information on their Mardi Gras, Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park events. Julia Row with the St. Louis Cardinals told us all about the concerts, non-baseball sporting events (golf, soccer, football, hockey) and other fun events that transform Busch Stadium into memorable outings. They shared challenges they face with putting on these events but also the successes they enjoy with these “beyond traditional” events. I hope everyone that attended found something in both presentations that can be applied to their own business.
Speaking of the March meeting, I would like to thank all those that made the meeting possible. First our amazing speakers: Katy Enrique and Kelly Tecklenburg with Six Flags and Julia Row with the St. Louis Cardinals. Fantastic job ladies! I’d also like to thank our host – Joule. The event space is beautiful! Many, many thanks to our meeting sponsor The Gateway Arch! Dave Sanders told us about all the exciting events leading up to and beyond the grand re-opening on July 3rd. And be sure to pick up a pack (or many!) of the commemorative Fitz’s Root Beer featuring the Arch at a local grocery store! A big thank you as well to Aries for donating the use of their projector and to Butler’s Pantry for providing a delicious lunch.

Officer Melissa Doss from the St. Peters, Missouri Police Department will be doing a presentation on Safety and Active Shooter Preparedness. She will be speaking from the perspective of attractions and hotels and what we can all do to keep our visitors, employees and selves safe.
