Is it really August? Wow, that was a fast summer, but what a great summer it’s been!

Thank you to the special events team at the Saint Louis Zoo for providing a fun and exciting event space at the River’s Edge for the July meeting. We were even lucky enough to have two Zoo friends join us – a rabbit and snake! It’s always a memorable experience at the Zoo and this event was no exception! It was the perfect setting for our annual networking meeting where we played “Business Card Bingo.” I hope everyone had as much fun as I did getting to know our members better!

A big thank you as well to Madden Media for being the meeting sponsor. Doug Veach talked about advertising opportunities in the 2019 Official St. Louis Visitors Guide, which is produced by Madden Media.

On behalf of the entire SLAA Board of Directors, congratulations to our 2018 Carole Moody Scholarship winner, Sarah Minier. Sarah is currently studying Mass Communications and Media Advertising at SIUE and is an intern at the Gateway Arch and Fabulous Fox. Read more about Sarah’s impressive accomplishments later in this newsletter.

Please mark your calendar for the next SLAA meeting, which will be held on September 12th (please note this meeting is a week earlier than usual), at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL. The meeting will feature a panel of media experts that will be discussing a variety of topics including how to work with media reps, best practices for pitching your story and crisis management. You won’t want to miss this informative session in a beautiful location! Click here for more information.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. I can be reached at or (314) 992-0642.

Thanks again for your support of SLAA.
