Big News for Bike Enthusiasts
For those who love to hop on their bike and hit the trail, a new trail expansion just opened up in the Metro East – which connects Madison and St. Clair Counties.

The seven-mile trail expansion took almost 20 years to come to fruition, and is built on old railroad right-of-ways from the 1800s. The expansion took the existing Goshen Trail and extended it south from Troy to O’Fallon. It’s the first time the MCT (Madison County Transit) trail system has extended into St. Clair County.

50th Anniversary of the Way of Lights
The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Way of Lights display is one of the most iconic Holiday lights shows in southern Illinois. This year, the Way of Lights is celebrating their 50th Anniversary! Make sure to pay a visit to the display in Belleville, which is made up of over a million lights, and offers camel rides and horse drawn carriages. If you have children, there is also an indoor Lego Bricks display that is definitely worth seeing. The Way of Lights runs through December 31st, and is free to drive through – though donations are welcome.
