On behalf of the SLAA Board and our Members, we want to congratulate the 2017 Spirit of St. Louis Award winners.

The purpose of these awards is to honor those individuals and attractions who have gone the extra mile. Those recognized have not just put forth exemplary efforts to further the goals of their individual venues, but have helped promote our industry, as well as the city we call home.

Jenny Nixon – Bi-State Development’s Executive Director of Tourism Innovation
A true innovator of the tourism and hospitality industry, Jenny immerses herself in developing, managing and marketing projects surrounding St. Louis’ beloved treasure and national landmark, the Gateway Arch.

2017 Spirit of St. Louis Program Winner
Gateway Motorsports Park’s Inaugural Bommarito Automotive 500 Verizon IndyCar Series Race
After several years of extensive renovations and upgrades implemented, owner Curtis Francois took over Gateway Motorsports Park. The park was in a position to be competitive for large races. In 2017, it was up against 11 other cities and tracks to be the next IndyCar race scheduled. After an intense process, Gateway Motorsports Park was selected to be the only addition to the impressive IndyCar schedule.

David Lancaster, Editor of WHERE Magazine
As the editor of WHERE Magazine, the publication located in virtually every St. Louis metro area hotel and attraction, David has spent his career promoting all that St. Louis has to offer in an extraordinarily positive light. David not only writes about places to visit, but also takes amazing photographs of these places which are featured in every issue of WHERE.

Submit your nomination for the 2018 Spirit of St. Louis Awards! Nominations for the Spirit of St. Louis Awards are accepted year-round. Eligible nominees may have served in any of a variety of positions from front-line service to management, at an attraction, hotel, restaurant, or with any other associated or affiliated industry. Both members and non-members of SLAA are eligible to receive awards; however, nominations must be submitted by a SLAA. You are welcome to make unlimited nominations.
