March started off great as we wrapped up a great convention hosting NTA and the United Motorcoach Association! They kept our City and our Attractions busy from February 25 – March 3!

Join us on Wednesday, March 15th, at Hollywood Casino for Dining & Business Etiquette: Tips for Creating a Positive First Impression! Our featured speaker, Anne L. Hensley, holds a master’s degree in counseling from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri, a nationally certified counselor, a nationally certified career counselor and a board certified coach. She is a former junior high instructor, high school counselor and recently from Saint Louis University School of Law where she was employed as a career counselor for 20 years. She’s given more than 500 Etiquette/Professionalism and Myers-Briggs presentations to leading law firms and high school students along with community, business, religious and social organizations. Her law school etiquette presentations have been featured in The Wall Street Journal and on the front page of The Countain and the St. Louis Daily Record. She maintains a career counseling practice, which caters to an array of clients, ranging from high school and college students to prominent business executives and retired individuals.

2017 Scholarship Applications Available Online!
Scholarship applications are now available online for the 2017 Saint Louis Attractions Association Carole Moody Scholarship. The scholarship is open to any undergraduate college student or hight school senior entering college majoring in a field that could contribute to the tourism/hospitality industry and maintaining a 3.0 or B grade point average. In addition, the student must have accomplished one of the following:
- Work in the industry for a SLAA member
- Completed an internship with a SLAA member
- Be a current member of SLAA (Student memberships are available!)
- Be a family member of a SLAA member
- Belong to a hospitality organization
Each July, one or more students are awarded a scholarship in the amount of at least $1,000. One or more students may be awarded an Honorable Mention Award in the amount of $500. Applications are due June 9, 2017. Applications are accepted online or download an application.

SLAA Announced 2016 Spirit of St. Louis Award Recipients at January Meeting
The Saint Louis Attractions Association announced the recipients of the 2016 Spirit of St. Louis Awards at the January Lunch Meeting. The National Park Service and the YMCA of Greater St. Louis received the Spirit of St. Louis Program Award for their “Play, Learn, Serve, Work” Summer Camp Program. Ronda Thiem, Partner and Senior Vice President of Sales at Madden Media, received the Spirit of St. Louis Individual Award. Linda Eise, Leisure Marketing for Drury Hotels Company, LLC received the Spirit of St. Louis Hall of Fame Award. Click here to read more.

Submit Your Nomination for the 2017 Spirit of St. Louis Awards!
Nominations for the Spirit of St. Louis Awards are accepted year-round. The purpose of the Spirit of St. Louis Awards is to honor those members of the attractions and hospitality industry who go the extra mile and put forth exemplary effort in helping to further the goals and objectives of the industry and the Saint Louis Attractions Association. The Association recognizes these noteworthy achievements each year at the January meeting.
Eligible nominees may have served in any of a variety of positions, ranging from front-line service to management, at an attraction, hotel, restaurant, or with any other associated or affiliated industry. Both members and non-members of SLAA are eligible to receive awards; however, nominations must be submitted by a SLAA member. You are welcome to make unlimited nominations.
