Well, as summer gives its last couple of gasps and the leaves actually start turning, fall begins. I’ve smelled bonfires on the wind and enjoyed the few crisp mornings and am looking forward to sweaters, boots, and the rapidly approaching holiday season. I’ve yet to start my Christmas shopping, but more on that later…

Mark Your Calendar for the 2016 Silent Auction on November 16th!

It’s that time of year again! The 2016 SLAA Silent Auction will be here before we know it. Invite your colleagues, clients, friends and family to join the fun and come prepared to shop. The silent auction will be held at Ballpark Village beginning at 11am.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction benefit the Carole Moody Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior or undergraduate college student majoring in a field that contributes to the tourism/hospitality industry. Donations are being accepted for the auction and we encourage all SLAA members to donate a product, service, or special VIP experience.

Greetings From the Silent Auction Committee!

We’re getting excited for the auction – we can’t believe it’s less than a month away! As a reminder, the auction is on November 16th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Ballpark Village. Letters have gone out, so please consider making a donation to the auction this year!

Remember – for the Auction, please bring cash – there are a few items where cash is preferred!

Last year we focused on collecting “Experiences,” and we would love to have those again this year! But…we’re also adding a new category – YOU! Are you good at landscaping? Do you sew? Are you an excellent baker? Do you have talents or skills others would find valuable? Donate your skills or time to the auction! For example, Brooke crochets and is planning on donating a blanket to the auction. And we know the rest of the Board has some talents and skills they are donating as well. Keep an eye on your email for more information about this, or contact Brooke to ask questions. See you at the Auction!

The Gateway Arch Riverboats provided a unique location and experience for an informative meeting on Wednesday, September 21st. Guests were able to enjoy a delicious lunch and learn more about the Arch and supporting projects and partners, all while cruising along on the Mighty Mississippi. Speakers from the Gateway Arch, Great Rivers Greenway, Jefferson National Parks Association, National Parks Service, and CityArchRiver all provided valuable information and answered questions from the audience.

A special thank you to all of our speakers, our moderator, Tom Etling, and our generous meeting sponsors Oak Island Creative and Hard Rock Cafe.
